(10,418 posts)and first hit it big in Australia. The woman in the video is not a part of his band, but she will be opening for him on his US tour and undoubtedly will perform this song with him during his set.
They play the hell out of that tune on satellite radio. That's where I learned about him. I'm actually not too fond of the tune, but I know a lot of people like it.

It's about two men who are pearl fishers, who have a crush on the same woman, who is a priestess at the local temple of Brahma. They start to feel jealous of each other but at the end they decide to love each other as brothers.

(8,692 posts)Not a fan of opera. All that singing gets in the way of the music.

(21,046 posts)You can't listen to the singing and the orchestral music too???
How about with a piano accompaniment? Would that be less complicated???
I swear, every person who tells me they "don't like opera" has never actually LISTENED to an aria or even paid attention to what they are trying to communicate. I didn't like opera, either, until they started putting up Surtitles above the stage. You can read along in English while they are singing.
It makes a world of difference!!

(8,692 posts)I've been to a couple of operas, and you're right, the subtitles help a lot. But for me hearing a soprano is like nails on a chalk board. The pitch does a number on my eardrums and gives me a headache.
Coolest one was Tannhauser- saw it at the Santa Fe Opera. A storm rolled in and I swear the lightening was in time with the music. Stunning!

(21,046 posts)Mezzo-sopranos are more pleasant to listen to. Try Rise' Stevens as Carmen or Delilah.

(24,159 posts)I like the music, I like their voices, but the lyrics were kinda...juvenile? Like her first line, "Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over." There's an awkwardness about the lyrics.
Maybe juvenile isn't the right word, but there was something I didn't care for in the lyrics.

(8,692 posts)I don't pay attention to lyrics too much these days. But the music and their voices are great.
