Don't know if it's an anomaly, but there's one.

Their pancakes are great. So are their omelets. Better than Waffle House. I'd say it's a tie on the waffles.

I tried one and that was the last one. Yuck. They put the eggs in a blender. It puts too much air into them.

That's what makes them fluffy. I like the omelets because you can choose what ingredients you want in the them. Plus they are so big that I usually take home the leftovers for lunch or dinner.

Mine have to have other stuff in them. I don't eat omelets often, but when I do, I go to IHOP and order their Colorado Omelet . Except I substitute tomatoes for green peppers. Then I put lots of salsa on top. Might horrify purists, but I love it.

Many years later in a different state, the waitresses at a Denny's were sweethearts who
would serve me free coffee refills ALL night long as I studied during finals weeks (if I tried
to do it at home, I would invariably nod off in 10-15 minutes or so).

Or have they always sucked? Here their $9+ breakfasts look tired, cheap, and are generally of poor quality. By comparison I know of more than one greasy spoon around here that serve <$5 breakfasts that features a heaping plate of greasy goodness and endless coffee.

On a rare occasion, I went to a greasy spoon here in Tucson with WONDERFUL smartass waitresses (like Flo)
and light, fluffy blueberry pancakes that were delicious and BIGGER THAN YOUR FUCKING HEAD!!!!!.
.
They had so many local regulars that it was hard to even get a stool at the counter most of the time.

within walking distance. I loved Denny's. And next door to Denny's was an Arthur Treacher's. I don't think Arthur Treacher's is in existence any longer. I live in North Georgia now with no Denny's near me.
