I think Denver experienced quite a bit of personal depression that lead to some heavy drinking (and DUIs) later in life...

Life's ups and downs catch up with all of us.

That said, what does JD have to do with a Neil Young song in the OP?

I so love "Annie's Song."
One of my daughters asked me if there was a love song I really liked. I told her "Annie's Song" and "Darling Be Home Soon" by the Loving Spoonful.
So many of his songs have really moved me.

Outdoor stage in the August twilight at the county fair. Nothing fancy, just John up on stage with his guitar, singing. It was absolutely magical.

I almost didn't buy the tickets. I'm glad now that I did.
