and Loved It! I'm glad the critics panned it because I went in with low expectations and came out with a big smile on my face. Gorgeous cinematography, and Jack Sparrow with a bird on his head = lots of fun!

(32,073 posts)She said she didn't understand why the reviews were so bad, because it was fun. I don't know how much of that is biased because she loves Johnny Depp, but having seen the preview, I thought it looked fun, too.

(2,140 posts)I've generally found the "enjoyment quotient" of films to be exactly the opposite of what critics tell me to expect...If it's won Academy Awards it is almost always,to me,a stinker or a snorer.

(14,400 posts)my wife and I made the last second decision last weekend to see "Now You See Me" instead. We figured it has Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Jesse Eisenberg in it, it won't suck.
Guess what... It sucked and it sucked hard. My wife didn't mind it, putting it down as light summer fluff but I just keep coming up with new reasons why I hated it.
That movie goes into my "never again, not even if the alternative is watching paint dry" list."

(31,370 posts)the not so under the radar commentary on politics--military industrial complex of the 19th century
and law enforcement in the pocket of capitalists, along with the outcome of an attorney who
had to become an outlaw in order to seek justice--the corporate critics were SURE to pan
the movie.
We really enjoyed it. We know one of the women who was an associate producer on the film.
LOVED Tom Wilkinson, and of course, Johnny Depp.
