DU Artist of the Day - Robert Johnson - The Complete Recordings

For those of you who don't know who Robert Johnson is - this is the legend. Robert Johnson is the man that met the devil at the crossroads and sold his soul to the devil for amazing guitar abilities. Johnson only lived until he was 27 years old and this was the only recording of his music.

Robert Johnson is the master of the Delta Blues but this is the only recording of his music in existance. Rumor has it that when it was put to Vinyl (78s btw) that the timing was actually slower than what was originally played.

The interesting thing with this album - if you get the with all of the recordings is that there will be double of every song on the album. Johnson did 2 takes of each song and both songs had a very unique sound, wish explains why you see 2 of the same songs many times on the album.

And much of the music will sound somewhat familiar especially if you're into late 60s Brit Rock - much of which was inspired by the likes of Robert Johnson including Eric Claption and yes Led Zeppelin.
