(18,479 posts)...when I experienced a seriously deficient ratio of self-preservation to daring, I bought a '66 Caprice with requisite 396 V-8, 4 speed Muncie transmission, 4 barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. The red line was 4600 rpm and in top gear 4200 rpm was about 130 mph.
Highway gas mileage was incredible at about 19 mpg, mostly due to the L70-15 tires. City mpg was between 6 and 9 and was highly dependent on what music was playing.
Pros: I generally spent more on gas than I did on clutches and motor mounts.
Cons: The finicky starter sometimes required the use of a screwdriver shorting the appropriate terminals to start it.

(18,479 posts)...my car was used to make the historic run to my preferred beer distributor where my seats were explored for sufficient change to round out what was required to purchase my selection for cheapest obtainable beer, at $4.40/case, namely Fox Head 400 Beer. (24 x 6 oz bottles)

(30,947 posts)I did a lot of crazy things when I was younger, including skydiving. I decided to quit after 6 jumps and a few mishaps. I was 37 and wanted to see 40. I am now 74 and it still amazes me that I made it this far.

(46,436 posts)because I always felt like I would live to be really old. Plus, I think LSD in one's youth halts aging.
A lot of people I knew haven't been so lucky, though. Have lost many to drugs and gunfire.
