"Vanity Fair" is even worse than I remember.

I was forced, against my will, to read that overwrought but, admittedly, well-written soap opera in tenth or eleventh grade. What misery. The experience put me off of English literature for, well, decades.

Anyway, apparently it was made into a film several years ago. For some unknown reason Showtime has elected to run it and, while I wasn't paying attention, started showing it after whatever I had on as background noise earlier.

It is actually worse than I remember. And I did not think that was possible. My God, what a stinker. The suckitude defies description. Switched to "Goldeneye", with commercials no less, just to flush the utter hideousness from my consciousness.

That is all. Carry on.

Yeah, it was really just not good...
I never was forced to read the book.
