A cheaper & better-tasting (imo) Irish cream is Carolyn's. For years I used to buy it for my coffee, but I like my coffee very sweet so would use a lot of it. Had to give it up because of weight gain (I love my rum & coke, too, so something had to go.)

Bad night with it 12 years ago, I still just can't. And it's not like I'm a booze-snob, my most common liquor would be Jameson. Straight out of the bottle into a shot glass. Yes, I am a cook, why do you ask?

I've never tried it that way.

I like to mix it with vodka (I think gin is too strong of a taste already) and fruit juice; grapefruit or pineapple, depending on if you want tart or sweet along with the bitter from the Campari.

Great summer drink!

Bourbon has to be my all time favorite liquor. There are a lot of top shelf ones that I like, but for everyday use I like either Makers Mark or Weller Special Reserve. Laird's Apple Brandy (7 1/2 years) is quite nice and not that expensive.

Gin is too, if you like the taste of juniper.

If you want to drink your liquor straight, Jaeger is a good choice. Malibu rocks, too. It's rum, but watered down slightly (30%ABV) and flavored. Malibu is also excellent for mixing, especially the Mango flavor.

American vodka is boat cleaner anyway until you get into the higher price ranges. It's not put through enough stripping runs and it tastes like sweaty socks soaked in nail polish remover.

Whatever you choose, be careful until you get used to what you're drinking. You'll get a lot drunker a lot faster off this than you do beer, and it's easy to go overboard.

With vodka best to get high priced and high proof and put in freezer first or not do vodka especially cheap.

I used to like well made bloody Mary's with fine vodka's but that was a decade or more ago on special occasions and locations.

I only drink fine tequillas on occasion straight and from the freezer regards tio spirits.

I like some fine red wines (cabernet, mertot, pinot noir) but make no effort any more to partake regularly for decades now.

Light in weight , just realize the high impact relative to a large person that is a regular drinker of hard spirits.

Body mass, drinking habits, and metabolism counts and I say this as a 60 year old male in protection of the female gender.

There are some fine brandies and scotch. Absinth? lol Good vibes.

Lots of fat in Baileys. Maybe look into cultivating a martini habit. It's not just a social lubricant, it's also a fun hobby.

And I say this as an Irish-American lass who loves a good Irish coffee. It is too sweet and too heavy to drink straight.
Why do you want to switch from beer? What kind of beer are you drinking now? Even if you like sweeter drinks, there are routes you can take. I'm not the hugest liquor drinker, but I do like a vodka tonic, vodka and OJ, or a cosmopolitan. I also love excellent tequila, but abhor cheap stuff.

Now if you're talking for medicinal purposes....a nice liquer in the evening is nice. Creme de mint, schnapps, Kahlua, etc. Mixed with milk or straight. They have a low alcohol content.

If you insist on drinking, what you drink depends on where you are. If you're playing pool in a sports bar, you probably don't want something sweet or fancy. You need a guy's drink. Whiskey, bourbon, scotch, vodka. I'm a weakling alcohol-wise, but I love an occasional dark beer, or liquer (for medicinal purposes, of course )
