Carts are usually scattered about the parking lot of the grocery store nearest our home, and I generally pick one on my way in. This evening the one I came upon had a sheaf of papers in it, which turned out to be someone's W.I.C. materials, along with a few other things like a baby picture and some medical appointment reminder cards. There was one item with an address, and so when I was done shopping and had gotten home I headed out again with the stuff. The address turned out to be just around the corner from where, in my 'adventurous youth' I had lived for a while in a commune. The first couple of times I rang the buzzer there was no reply, so I sloped off and had a milk-shake at the final permutation of a restaurant still open from back in those days. When I went back, a fellow in his late twenties came down to the door, when I told him who I was looking for and that I thought something I had was her's, he said he would check, and in a few moments the young lady came down, kid on her hip. She was happy to have the stuff back. It was not that far out of my way to go, and it felt good to do.
