I miss the music videos, I want *MY MTV back!

The new MTV show to replace the "Jersey Shore" will focuse on the youth of W. Virginia and will be called "Buckwild".

* WARNING * Stupidity, hatred, and overall debauchery are part of this video watch at your own risk!

"In just a few weeks, it will be time to pack up the beach towels, tanning oils, and tanning oils and say goodbye to Jersey Shore for good. How will you fill your Thursday nights at 10 p.m.? MTV is hoping to hit pay dirt (mud?) several hundred miles southwest of New Jersey with Buckwild, a new reality series about nine young-adult friends in small-town West Virginia who say they are living by the motto, “Whatever happens, happens.” And what seems to be happening is a lot of riding down hills inside giant tires, driving trucks dangerously through mud, tearing up the trails on ATVs and motorcycles, drinking, body licking, fighting with neighbors, and doing Jackass-y stunts that sometimes involve construction equipment. But don’t worry, there’s a heartfelt side to all of this ruckus, as you will see in this two-minute trailer, when one guy gives flowers to a girl he’s sweet on."

I really do just miss the music videos...

1. In case you hadn't noticed,

the channel letters don't mean what they used to mean. The Learning Channel isn't about learning anymore, MTV isn't about music videos anymore, and SyFy isn't about science fiction entertainment anymore.

What all of these channels (and all the rest) have in common is that they are brands. That's all that matters these days. Name recognition and brand names. Content formerly associated with the brand name letters is meaningless, just as the six corporations want it.

2. I noticed, just complaining about it.

Viacom is such a beast of a company nowadays I am surprised they still play any music.

3. I'm not sure what alternatives there are to Old MTV

Maybe something online other than YouTube? I only know of blogs and online radio stations, but not anything like a "video station." That might be a void someone could try to fill
