How do I get rid of the prefix “chrome://newtabhttp”

that now appears in the URL of every website I visit?

To email a URL to someone, or to post a URL here on DU, I have to highlight what comes after the chrome prefix, then copy/paste it into the email or DU message box and hope it works.

Also, when I try to bookmark a URL, the link doesn’t work when I later click on the bookmark.

I’m not computer savvy, and that’s why I am asking instead of having already figured it out.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I found the tab in Extensions and clicked to disable it.

Whew! I'm finally free of that annoying prefix.

Thank you very much, Ptah!
