How Strict Is Kickstarter with It's Deadlines?
I'm actually asking for a friend. I do not understand Kickstarter entirely nor does he.
Back in July he raised funds successfully to shoot a music video. He knew exactly what he wanted. Through some friends, he managed to shoot the video at a local mansion. He figured 2-3 days would be enough time to shoot and the owners have been really great and supportive. They preferred he shoot while they were on a vacation during the month of November and the husband's brother and his family would oversee as they shot the video. Because they planned on shooting in November, they picked the release date/deadline as the first week of January 2013.
Well, something has come up and they have delayed their trip until after Christmas and now plan on being gone the month of January. The owner's brother and his family won't be around until late in January which delays things. He is hoping Kickstarter will give him an extension til late February or early March. From people who he has spoken with they say Kickstarter is pretty strict with deadlines.
I know very little about their rules. He thought about contacting every person who donated money to the video and explaining it to them (he has 32 people to contact) but from what he has heard that won't matter. It's not up to them. So,my question is how strict is Kickstarter? Is their any wriggle room? Anyone know or has anyone been in this situation before? Any advice would be helpful.
