(32,293 posts)The caption to the vintage photo:

REAL ENOUGH TO EAT: The birthday cake which Hazel M. Keedle, childrens' librarian at the Ann Arbor Public Library, and Joan Gallup proudly present is the cake indicative of the Vacation Reading Club drive to encourage vacation reading among children. Each time a child reads and reviews a book he or she can place a candle in the cake. Joan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Gallup, 645 Riverside Dr., is the high school art student who designed the cake.

(2,948 posts)yesterday!!! (I agree about not knowing where the time went!!) I gave birth to her a week before I turned 19, and then had my son 2 1/2 weeks before I turned 44, so he just celebrated his 25th birthday. I've often joked that I give birth every quarter century, but (spoiler alert!) that streak has ended! I also have an adopted daughter who turned 21 at the end of July, so LOTS of milestone birthdays this summer...

Hope you have a very rewarding year!
