There should be a little thing that plugs into a wall socket. A USB plugs into that, too, to charge.

The wall charger looks like the thing on the left:

Then, if you use iCloud, you can update wirelessly through a wifi connection.

6. There was no charger with mine. I bought a device at Radio Shack that works in the car.

I have another one in the house that I plug that into to charge it at home. I leave it together, since the charge lasts as long as I'm out.

I also like to use it when I've been importing and rearranging music in iTunes and am not ready to change the playlists in iPod. So that's all I know.

Obviously that won't let the iPod play through the car stereo, but it DOES let you charge the thing.

9. There is a device for that. I put in just one ear plug (for safety) and listen that way.

Then insert the other one to continue wandering along in my own little world. Somedays just listening to lectures. I even keep the iPod to use as an earplugs with white sound type music or whatever to block out whatever at home. I refused to upgrade from my Nano because it's almost weightless. Just like my Razr cellphone.

That, and other options if you don't have a cassette player in your car, described here-

If you don't use the term "ipod" in your search, you can get one on Amazon for a penny.

I usually charge iPods on my Linux box - don't have iTunes on it so all it does is charge the thing. One of my daughters also has a stereo with an iPod docking station. It not only charges it but also lets you play tunes off of it.
