She was incredibly funny in .. "I Love Lucy" ............one other fact you didn't know....
Every episode of I Love Lucy was shot in front of a live audience of 300 ticketed viewers, often tourists visiting Hollywood from around the country. Before each taping, Desi Arnaz acted as emcee, introducing the cast to the audience and warming the crowd up for the show.
...........So, the laughter was real laughter........... NOT a sound tape of laughter

When you watch her tv shows and then her movies (The Long Long Trailer) , and many others...she had one of the most brilliant ideas of what would make the audience laugh. Lucy and her producers were beyond anyone else in TV & movies at the time.

(5,546 posts)I'll go back to before television for Thelma Todd and ZaSu Pitts. I'll also go with another poster who said Gracie Allen since that covers movies and TV. Much of the Pitts and Todd work from the 1931/33 era has either been chopped up on the Tube or has been taken down. It's a shame. "The Soilers" from 1932 is a short of about 18 minutes that had me holding my sides I was laughing so hard. "Alum and Eve" is from 1932 as well as "The Bargain of the Century". Those are just a couple of the titles I've watched. All of their work together is well worth the time.
