Every specially engineered decoration we buy for our betta almost kills him!

WTF?!? It's not as though we've spent a million bucks on the damn things, but I'd like to give him something that doesn't pose an immediate and lethal hazard for the poor guy!

We've tried real, plastic and silk plants, all of which almost snuffed him. Three kinds of artificial aquarium rocks, all almost fatal, and most recently a carefully manufactured "betta hammock" and within 20 minutes it had all but shredded his tail and fins! And it's not as though we get them from a junk yard; we buy them at Petco, from pleasant young men and women who actually seem to like keeping animals alive!

Don't these thing live in puddles in the wild? Why is it so hard to find a decoration that won't send him belly up?

They don't really need decorations. Just get him another betta to play with and he'll be happy. 4th law of robotics Aug 2012 #1
