$100 bills with Lincoln trip up counterfeit try
PRESCOTT -- Police say a man tried to buy merchandise in Prescott with $100 bills that had the wrong image.
Authorities say they responded to two attempts last week to pass counterfeit bills at Prescott businesses.
The Daily Courier (http://bit.ly/MOAIh4 ) reports that an officer who responded to a thrift store noted that one of the bills had an image of Abraham Lincoln instead of Benjamin Franklin. The officer also wrote in a report that the bill was softer than standard currency and had been printed in a lighter color.
A grocery store manager noticed the same flaws with another $100 bill at the second business.
