I just wanted to watch the opening, I didn't need the running, inane commentary. And when one of them actually started singing, I almost lost it.

And why start this glorious event with a story about security and safety? What a stupid, stupid choice. People watch the Olympics to feel good.

So far, I give them an F.

these days, esp considering the problems that London had with it at the start (as Romney proudly noted!).

I find the subject interesting. How do you provide security for so many in such a crowded city, no doubt with plenty of wackos running around.

of the ceremony. I enjoyed their commentary when the teams started coming in, but not during the other parts of the display. I wanted to make my own interpretations.

And while I agree that security is important and can be interesting, I was disappointed that they opened the first prime time show with it. Such a downer.

One does not need cable to view NBC terrestrial broadcasts so how can they legally restrict access to the NBC stream to cable customers only? I can understand blocking MSNBC, CNBC, etc. but NBC itself? That's an FCC license.

They were going to have streams of all events, even those that are not being televised.

All I can get is NBC and MSNBC (which is showing prison programs). The have a Sports-Mix preview channel showing 8 channels. But when you click on the windows, it says "Channel not purchased".
