I mean I just want to enjoy the sports and sometimes I wish there was a way I could mute that mindless chatter in the background.
Sure I could stream it on my computer but geez I have this beautiful HD big screen TV - I would love to watch it on that.
I remember ages ago when Jim McKay was the host and ABC ran the Olympics - those were the Olympics of my childhood and made me anticipate the return of the Olympics every 4 years (back when Summer/Winter happened the same year).
With this kind of technology why can't they finally have a broadcast that is devoid of most of the mindless chit-chat and filled with what you want to see - Athletes doing their best to represent the Olympic spirit. Sure we need an announcer of some form but just to cover the event.
I know awhile back NBC tried to do a pay-per-view that offered something like this but it was a massive fail, probably because the technology was not there yet. I think they should try it again - it could work!

(6,581 posts)I hook my laptop up to my tv all the time, just using a standard monitor cable. Then, I just have to go into the monitors setting in windows and click on the box that tells it to share the video feed with the 2nd monitor. Viola, anything I can watch on the internet is projected on the tv. I just use the laptop speakers for sound, but you could also hook external speakers to the laptop with the right cable(s), or probably hook up the tv sound to the laptop if you knew how.
Maybe that would work for you?
