Wow, just wow, Morning Joe really goes after A. Vindman

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by JudyM (a host of the The DU Lounge forum).

Cleans his clock really. Vindman suggests Biden has been weak and didn't do all he could to prevent Putin's invasion of Ukraine, Joe Scarborough really destroyed Vindman, and David Ignatius is backing up Joe S. So there is a clear, dominant consensus as to the mess we're in and what to do about it.

I didn't bother to argue with her.

She repeats whatever she hears around her.

In 2016, she went from "I don't trust Trump. He scares me," to "I don't trust Hillary. She scares me."

... I saw that exchange. They went back to Vindman and he expanded; his view had logic. So did Ignatius... hopefully, Biden has people like this on his team. I think "Joe" is just there to make show. He wants to create a TV moment. I guess he did his job, but the other two seemed much more thoughtful and engaging.

1. If president Biden had put big sanctions on Russia before the invasion then Putin would have used those sanctions as an excuse for the invasion. President Biden shot down all of Putin's lame excuses for the invasion, the made up genocide, the false flag operations. President Biden played it just right.

2. People are asking for tougher sanctions now, like SWIFT. There's a catch, there are EU countries that are opposed to banning Russia from Swift because it would shut down Russian fossil fuel imports to their countries. President Biden's #1 goal during this war is to keep our allies united and having the US unilaterally ban Russia from SWIFT could fracture that alliance. Maybe president Biden should gamble and do it, I heard Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell say we should do it. I'm just saying, the MSM is going to go out of its way to criticize president Biden but I believe he is doing the right things.

I heard Lawrence Wilkerson last night say that the best course of action is to wait. He believes that Putin made a mistake in invading Ukraine. He believes that Russia can topple the government and install a puppet, but Russia will never be able to maintain control, the counter-insurgency will never end. The Ukrainians had a taste of 8 years of democracy and they do not want to go back to autocracy.

Having a policy of waiting Putin out will be a hard policy to sell, but Wilkerson backs it.

on the table. The world (but particularly Europe) made it abundantly clear that they were not going to get into a shooting war with Russia over Ukraine. And you're absolutely correct in that Biden, and administration, played the cards at hand - nearly pitch perfect. The wailing now in vogue that they "didn't stop" Putin - conveniently ignores the fact that nobody (including Biden on a nearly daily basis) said that it would. Were you not listening this past month?

(I agree with your posts infrequently. you nailed this one.)

response to the Russian buildup saying he played it perfect by holding back sanctions. Now out of the woodwork comes
people saying Biden should have imposed sanctions before Russia attacked. He should have sent them more
arms he should have done this or that. If Vindman wants to help, go the f-- to Ukraine and put on a uniform.
