The Drummer Died Of COVID!

Some of you may recall my post of a few days ago, that the guy who was the drummer in our band for 21 years had died at 59. (I said 58 in that post. I was off by a year.)
I went to the memorial service today & talked to his wife (sadly, now his widow.)
He was actually stable with the liver problem & was a priority 2 on the transplant list.
But, in his weakened state, he caught COVID.
She's a Med Tech, so she insisted they both get vaxxed. But, he got pretty sick from the first dose, he kept holding off on 2nd shot & booster.
But, he sold HVAC equipment to contractors. And, a lot of his sales calls involved small companies where the 3 or 4 there didn't wear masks. That's how she thinks he caught it.
He got sick really fast from it, I guess. Was hospitalized in 2 days. After about 5 days there, he got moved to a hospital in the suburbs that specializes in respiratory.
He ended up on a vent, and died after about 8 days.
She told me the xray of his lungs looked like shattered glass, there was so much scarring.
He did have a liver issue, but that isn't what got him.

2. My Wife Didn't Do Well...

...at the wake. She needed to go out to wait in the car.
It was open casket & that triggered her. We've been home about 45 minutes. She's doing ok, now.

13. I personally am totally opposed to open caskets.

I realize others have a different take, but if I know there's going to be an open casket, I won't go to the wake.

14. Don't Like Them Either

We're both being cooked, so if there's a service there will just be a vase. I'll probably be asked to be put in a volumetric flask. Seems symmetrical!

17. Me too as I hate to see people who were once beautiful look like a mummy.

Or worse and I donít want that image to take over.

18. Agreed. Always creeps me out. Even when it was my mom and dad.

My better half's family cremates. A much better way to go out I think.
