Feline-Friendly Furniture Gives Cats a Seat at the Table and Makes Them the Centerpiece

By Emma Taggart on August 19, 2021

Those that share their home with a feline friend know that cats are curious creatures. They might act aloof, but most house cats want to be near us, even if itís just to watch what weíre doing. With this in mind, Japanese retailer Dinos released a table designed for both humans and cats to sit together.

The all-natural oak table features a perch underneath it, and a hole in the center of the tabletop. This provides a seat for your kitty pal, and allows them to pop their head up through the hole to check out whatís going on above the table. The thoughtful design provides a playful environment for games, or simply a safe place to allow your cat to watch you while you work (someone has to check that youíre doing it right). And since the hole is in the center, you can even eat at the table and your cat will be at a safe distance from your food. When you donít want your feline friend to join you, simply cover the hole with its lid, transforming the customizable piece of furniture into a normal table.

Not only is the cat table functional for both you and your pet, itís also super stylish. Each one is handcrafted by artisans in Japan and is available in two colors: natural and dark brown. Dinos also sells furniture to match the table, including a bench and cat tree.

1. With Inky, there was no such thing....

...as a "safe distance" from my food--unless it involved a closed door (which also had its disadvantages.....)

4. This might be okay for a home with one cat

But maybe not so much if you have multiple cats. Unless you like having cats fights under your table while you are eating.

11. You are lucky.

My cat spends at least half his time on the table. Otoh, he stays off the kitchen counters. Small blessing.

13. Cute, but if a cat can get its head through an opening

the rest of the cat will fit through it too. The cat will be all the way through the hole and on the table in no time.

15. Supposedly the cat can't get on the tale but did they factor in

the cat hair flying into your mashed potatoes?

17. My cat Sparkle

Used to sit on my lap when it was dinner time or lunch or breakfast. He would put his paws on the table and stood up in my lap to eat.
He had his own plate and I had mine he never got in my food and I never messed with his. Sparkle and I were very close,he was my soul cat. I loved sharing meals with him.

He slept in my arms everynight. I would wake up with fur and drool on my cheek because he would lay his face on my face to sleep we were really close it was almost like we mind melded. Not a day goes by that I dont think of him.

19. The article title is a bit misleading.

"Feline-Friendly" would be a couch made out of mice and catnip, with ribbons dangling from the side. Hung from the ceiling. With an un-closeable door leading to the roof.

"Super-Feline-Friendly" would be a ratty old blanket under the described couch.
