By invoking this oft forgotten rule of family gatherings this time of year (somehow, nobody remembers how Christmas and Hanukkah were swept into this rule) you get to count blessings on a 3 to 1 ratio to in-laws. If that ratio is not adequate to save you and put you safely in the plus column nothing will and consider yourself screwed or Scrooged if it happens to be Christmas.
