I went to Trader Joe's this afternoon
and there was not a frozen green bean to be seen.
Obviously there are going to be a lot of green bean and mushroom soup casseroles lurking on tables on Thanksgiving. The horror! ![]()

1. The Horror indeed
What's this world coming too?
Seriously, what is Thanksgiving dinner without green bean casserole? Ugh |

3. None at our house this year. The veggies are green beans with bacon and onions,
roasted brussel sprouts with pears and balsamic, and Anne McCord’s leg from the Alice’s Restaurant cookbook.

2. Maybe my mother won't be bringing her green bean casserole on Thanksgiving after all.
Hope springs eternal. Then again, I think she uses canned green beans.

4. A substitute
Just replace the green beans with chopped broccoli and add some parm. It’s far more edible!

5. Interesting
I like green beans, but not mucked up with Cream of Mushroom soup. I make mine with a basil, garlic and parmesan pesto.

8. I was going to roast brussel sprouts with garlic and olive oil--a healthier addition...

![]() Has anyone checked out the price of bacon lately? Good heavens... Nope--garlic, olive oil-roasted veggies it is. |

10. DU haven of commies
Replacing green bean casserole with mushroom soup and fried onions on top with brussels sprouts and broccoli flavored with garlic parmesan and *gasp* olive oil?!? ... whats next kale and hummus at the Thanksgiving table you pinkos and you'll have us watching soccer instead of red blooded American football. No wonder 'real mericans don't trust us to teach their kids in school...

11. There will be NONE at our T-day dinner
Half of the family hates mushrooms. Me, I hate the grey gloop from the canned soup. Yuk! If I'm going to serve green beans, they will be in butter sauce topped with slivered toasted almonds. Broccoli is also welcome. Kale, not so much.

12. They had plenty of fresh ones
I just bought some. Takes very little time to steam.

13. I like to roast the beans
olive oil, salt, pepper, and a few minutes before ready, put some french-fried onions on top and let them heat through. Leaving the soup out saves 10 carbs in the casserole. I like it.
