That were bad at the time, but now seem funny? I can start.
When our kids were young, we and our friends drank a lot more than we do now. We didn't have a party that Christmas Eve, and everything was quiet and pleasant. We got our girls to bed, made sure Santa got to do his thing and got ready for bed. We got a knock at the door. One of our friends had had a fight with his wife, and needed a place to stay, so we let him have the couch. And went to bed. All of our bedrooms were upstairs. Later in the night, I woke hearing my 5 yr. old daughter sobbing in her bed. I went to her and comforted her. She wouldn't tell me why she was crying. Our friend was gone before we woke up and we enjoyed Christmas morning. The kids, especially my 5 year old were thrilled with their gifts from Santa. For a long time, we didn't know the whole story. My daughter finally told me why she was crying. She had come down in the night to use the bathroom, and she heard someone rummaging in the kitchen. She didn't know our friend was in the house and we didn't know he had wakened and was looking for a bottle of whiskey on the shelf in the kitchen, in the dark at the same time our daughter went to the bathroom. My poor little girl thought it was Santa looking for rotten potatoes! When we got all of the story put together, it was hard to keep a straight face. After that year, we stopped saying Santa had a list of naughty and nice. Too hard on kids who take it to heart.
Anyone else?
