but feel it's a bit of a stretch to call a situation where three people died and one person was seriously wounded as having "turned out well".

Sorry I'm just a little cranky and more than a little upset about the continuing violence in our country.

They had families who loved them, I'm sure. I was just relieved that my family is all right.

But for the rest of us, gratitude that your partner was spared and sorrow for those who weren't would have been appropriate.

I had no idea regarding any of the particulars surrounding this incident as I live nowhere near Tacoma or even Washington for that matter. Of course ANY loss of life due to gun violence is especially tragic. My comment was meant to convey that I was glad this incident had turned out well for OP and his personal situation.

My wife and I just ate at the Denny's on 196th and there was a SWAT team out in force at the Best Value Inn next door. Heavily-armed cops with shields were all over the shared parking lot. I didn't hear any shots, but it lasted a while and two ambulances were still there as well when we left.

Let me see if I can find out what that was about.

ETA: D'oh, your post is from yesterday.
