I liked it. Some people love it. I wouldn’t go that far, but definitely worth watching. If nothing else when you see posts about TFG where someone says “shut the fuck up Donnie” you’ll know the reference.

8. I liked it, but thought of it as a lesser Coen Bros movie

When people got all weird and obsessy about it I tuned out, I couldn’t stand hearing people make “Ihate the Eagles” and “Shut up Donnie” jokes.
Then I read the movie was a parody of “The Big Sleep” and Raymond Chandler - and the film suddenly became a work of genius.

16. It's like an onion

I saw it when it first came out and as a Coen fan, thought it was ok. They were getting successful and were getting money thrown at them, so they made a big budget spectacle that was interesting but not up to Blood Simple. Then over many viewings, you start to get more and more of it. It has consistently moved up my Coen rankings to the top with Fargo and Blood Simple.

If you like quirky, offbeat, Coen bros, etc, you’ll probably really like it

If not, you’ll still be amused and entertained by parts AND you won’t have wasted your money.

It’s not one of those “now there’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back” movies.
