Early music careers...

Kenny Rogers fronted a psychedelic rock band?

Beastie Boys were punk?

Parliament was doo-wop?

1. Okay. I can SEE Kenny Rogers as a hippie, but the Backside Boys as a punk band?

2. Kenny Rogers w/ First Edition.Song was "Just Dropped in to See What Condition My Condition Was In"

Had some really strange lyrics, such as "Found My Mind in a Brown Paper Bag and Then Tripped on a Cloud and Fell Eight Miles High." The only drug song I ever heard about sniffing glue.

I'd imagine that if you were to call from the audience in Branson for Kenny to sing that golden oldie the reception would be quite frosty indeed.

That was way back in the late '60's and The First Edition was pretty much a regional group based in Dallas.

The tune was also used much later in "The Big Lebowski."

3. I remember The First Edition.

"Just Dropped In" was about drugs? Guess I didn't pay much attention to lyrics.

What a naive dork I was.
