Bananas and garlic - interesting accidental taste combination

I sliced up a banana on the closest cutting board, this morning, only to realize (too late) it was the one I use to smash and chop garlic. It's a wooden board, so it does retain some garlic oil.

Although the flavor 'enhancement' was pretty light, it did make from some interesting banana pancakes, this morning. And an interesting way to start my day.

1. Sounds a little like mofongo

Puerto Rican dish made with plantains and garlic.

3. I must look that up!

I was just fantasizing about the plantains we used to get at Versailles, a Cuban restaurant in Los Angeles. I guess it's near time for one of my tasty marinated (with homemade marinade), slow cooked shredded pork dinners, with all of the fixings.

2. When I try a new recipe....

I wait anxiously for the review from my live-in food critic (my wife).

If the word "interesting" is in the first sentence....

I know to NEVER make it again!

4. For me, it depends on the facial expression when that word is applied to anything I cook

Sometimes it's with a nod and a smile. Sometimes (fortunately, infrequently) not so much.

I LOVE garlic and it was a pleasant interesting taste, so it actually has me thinking of looking up some accommodating recipes.
