Whoo HOO! Flint Farmer's Market made it into the top 10 BEST in the nation!! (#7)

It really is a wonderful place. There's an indoor space, and during the warm weather, an outdoor vendor space (3rd photo). I was sad when it moved from the original location because the atmosphere was so wonderfully 'retro' but the new location is right down town and incredibly convenient. Finding a parking spot, at lunch time, is nearly impossible because of the great food places. It really is a gem.

1. Must admit I never knew "cheesemonger" was what those folks were called.

2. We've been there many times!

It's a fantastic market with fresh foods and prepared dishes and fun people.

Good for Flint!

3. I LUV my farmers market.

Just a short walk away along the river path, pulling my little red Radio Flyer wagon.

And it opens this coming SUNDAY! Yippee! Maybe there will be rhubarb.

4. Findlay market

In Cincinnati was third on the list. It is a wonderful market that is over 150 years in Business. When we lived in the area we spent many days there

5. Eastern Market made it, too!

The street art there is amazing. They got a shout from the Smithsonian Magazine for "Murals in the Market": https://www.smithsonianmag.com/travel/best-mural-festivals-around-world-180968693/

Flower Day is coming up, but I usually don't go that day because it is soooo crowded! It is quite the experience, though.

Pure Michigan!

6. I love Eastern Market in Detroit.

Open year round with great deals on bulk food.

7. Flint has really gotten into the Mural scene, too

One of the newest is Anthony Bourdain but my all time favorite will always be the first: The Vernors Mural right by the 'original' Halo Burger restaurant on Saginaw St. It used to be called KewPee Burgers and was located in a 'box car' style restaurant at Harrison St. They opened in 1923. The Vernors mural showed up right around 1932. They were going to tear down the building it's painted on, back in the late 70's but the uproar was SO loud, they ended up purchasing the building. It was purchased by and now, most appropriately, houses the Greater Flint Arts Council.

8. I remember the old one

On Robert T near the post office. It was pretty good then, too. The building in front - didn't that used to be a Citizens' Bank branch?

Our family went there often when I was a kid.

9. Yup - Robert T. I loved that location but the building was aging beyond repair.

Now they use the parking lot for socially distanced concerts. I feel a little sad, every time I go to Habitat for Humanity, which is right across the road.

Citizen's Bank is now Huntington Bank. They kept the weather ball and it still works! The new Market is in the old Flint Journal building.

I'm sure hoping Down Town Flint can get back to some of the summer activities, this year. The Flint Art Walk should be pretty adaptable to Covid, since a lot of it takes place outside. Back to the Bricks happens late in the Summer so it would be great if that can happen, again.
