Shrimp: be sure to read the label

Months ago, my daughter brought me a bag of frozen jumbo shrimp. I thought I would make a shrimp cocktail with Chinese chili sauce. It was awful! The shrimp was terrible. I didn't tell her, just put the bag in the freezer, and planned to toss it.

My daughter brought me another bag of shrimp the other day. I thanked her and didn't tell her how bad the last bag was, so bad that I might never eat shrimp again! I took the old bag out of the freezer and put it in the fridge overnight, figuring I would try it again, hated to waste it. I got the bag out yesterday and emptied the shrimp into a colendar. As I was throwing the bag away, I noticed that the contents were labelled: Gulf Jumbo RAW Shrimp. I missed that key word back when I tried using it as shrimp cocktail, and used it right out of the bag :/ I made shrimp scampi yesterday, actually cooking the shrimp. It tasted so much better! I am still laughing ay my error, but trying to think if I had any symptoms from ingesting raw shrimp.

I made shrimp toast for the first time yesterday. Fortunately the shrimp cook as you toast them in the pan, ha.

Using raw shrimp is much better than using the already cooked ones. Just put frozen in boiling water, seasoned, for about seven minutes. Drain and chill or use in recipe. Much crunchier and more like its supposed to taste. Good luck. Cheaper too.

Sushi hasn't been on my list, although if I ever travel to a place with fresh seafood, maybe.

I read it and said, "Sounds like something I would do."

I once threw out a flounder because both of its eyes were on the same side of its head. I thought it was a mutant.

In my defense, the word RAW was in a different color than the rest of the description. Like trying to read a meme
