Pay Pal takes payments for invalid e-mails & keeps them.

I know whine moan.

But here ya go. I made a late night error on a long standing refund that was due. I believe my keyboard dropped a letter and I didn't catch it. The refund was made but I didn't receive it. Checking I saw the e-mail error.

Seller is still trying to recover funds. I tried contacting Pay pal. No humans via phone so chat it is. I explained problem.

Here is what "advice" I was given.
Create a e-mail account with the miss spelled name. Use that to claim funds.
I said-No. I'm not spoofing my own e-mail. And how do you get to hold funds sent to an invalid e-mail your company has no account with?.

I know why but it is over 2 hours trying to get someone to call back and nada zip. The CS# hangs up on me. Capitalism is da bestest.

You go to resolution center and unless you click a disputed transaction you can't proceed. As there was no payment there is nothing to click. And there it is the runaround.

An e-mail address without a linked PayPal account can't access the funds until a PP account is created. If the address doesn't actually exist, that obviously won't happen.

In this instance, the payment should show in the sender's account as unclaimed. The sender should have the option to cancel the payment - all one usually has to do is sign in and click Cancel on the unclaimed payment. It might take a couple of days for PP to process it. The sender can then reissue it to the correct address.

When you try to make a payment to a e-mail that doesn't exist maybe-just maybe-they should reject it or tell you there is a problem. Not make the recipient create a new account with the error.
