caught on this video clip). While a passenger has every right to use whatever functions his/her seat has, sometimes you just need to be reasonable. If is were a really long flight it would suck to be in the last seat. Is it really worth reclining your seat for the entire flight if the person in back of you makes your flight miserable?

I have had to deal with issues far worse than a reclined seat on some of my international flights.

who treat their passengers with total contempt in creating situations like this. They cram us in like sardines and tell us we should be happy about it. It's a business model that puts profit first and customer satisfaction isn't even a consideration.

I'd use my words; I wouldn't just smash her seat. That said, however, neither person is giving a crap about the other. They're both jerks and deserve what they got.

If she is considerate and makes her seat upright, should then the person in front of her also upright their seat, and so on all the way down the length of the plane? No! He got the rear seat. That's tough. Maybe next time he'll pay a little more for a seat that reclines if he's so uncomfortable.

I can only say that people need to think of others. And, the airlines need to provide more room. I think everyone can get behind that.

I blame the airline industries and the "deciders" that thought they could get away with this shit.

Maybe he did before he started doing that and she refused?

Who knows.

Both of them are engaged in a battle of obstinance with neither getting their way.

I absolutely will not compromise on this. Your seat is your space. Stop pushing it into the person behind you's space.

I agree 100% with you on the general principle. I am tall and lots of my height is in my legs. If someone puts their seat back on a plane in front of me it makes the flight absolutely miserable for me. There is just not enough room.

A few disclosures and opinions:
I don't recline my seat especially in coach.
I believe that 4 out of 5 people who recline their seats do it solely because they have a little button to press.
I'm aware that a few folks have orthopedic conditions that are less painful with the seat reclined.
I have been behind people that reclined quickly enough and with such force that they have nearly broken my laptop.

I can't say for sure if she is being rude or thoughtless. There's just not enough information presented. I know for sure he's being a huge jerk.
I have personally witnessed that failure to follow crew instructions and causing enough problems will get you removed in handcuffs upon landing. If you really really need to be that kind of person, please go ahead and roll the dice.

I use https://www.seatguru.com/ to decide what seat I will book and, if the available seat is really terrible, I take another flight. I always try to fly with airlines that allow choosing a seat when I book.

My favorite airline ever was Northwest, (bought out by Delta.) Delta is usually fair to good. I flew Northwest every week for 27 months 51 weeks out of the year.
Most of my flying was with USWhere (now using the American name.) They're okay but kind of cheap and uncomfortable.
