What's wrong with me? (Not a dramatic thread)

I’ve always known this about myself, but recently, my kids have pressed for an answer and I really don’t know.

What is my favorite color? I don’t have one.

Favorite movie? I like many movies but no favorite.

Favorite food? I can’t settle on just one.

Favorite song? There’s many good songs.

Favorite band? Meh.

So, you get the idea. It’s not like I’m indecisive when it comes to decision making. I can make a choice. I guess I just weigh the choices differently or by a different metric? Anyways, I thought I would just put this out there and see what people thought.

The worst of it is, I never know how to answer security questions that want this info. Sure, I could BS my way through, but I’d probably forget the answers I used the next time I’m prompted to respond.

What is my favorite color? I like the absence of color.....black.

Favorite movie? No particular favorite, I like (even the bad ones) the Star Wars movies as well as Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies. Plus many hand drawn Disney animation movies.

Favorite food? Shoot, I can't pin that. I like Italian, Russian, Mexican, Sushi, Chinese and Indian...and all those have sub groups. Top it off, I do like American versions of foreign food....its what leads me to try the authentic stuff.

Favorite song? Hmmm...hard to pick one from the Heavy Metal Genre

Favorite band? Well, this I can do, Metallica.

I have favorite colors, a wide variety of shades of blues and purples.

I have favorite movies. I currently have 20+ favorites at this time and sometimes my favorites change periodically.

I have favorite foods as well and can never settle on just one.

Ditto with songs, music and bands. This depends on my mood for the day and how I'm feeling.

Not everyone is the same and that's okay.

I'm very much like you and this nature helps us to avoid the stress and resentment of being pissed when we don't get our preferences. I know people who are highly prejudiced against certain colors because they're identified with some damn sports team they don't like.

I suspect this is a characteristic of many liberals like us and we should have no apologies......

I discovered a bit more love and understanding of myself by reading up on the 16 personality types that allows us amateur psychologists to see the normal differences people are born with. Not only for myself, this has helped me to be more accepting of others in my life that I just could not understand their nature and behavior.

Personality Types

See: https://www.16personalities.com/personality-types

I'm a proud INFP type, introvert and HSP (highly sensitive person).........

PS: It took me well up into my 60s to learn these characteristics of my nature.

a definite answer for any of those questions either. I like different things for different moods, different situations, different times and places, etc. I just could not come up with a definitive answer for any one of those questions.

I don't think there is anything wrong with us. It's just the way we are.

When we are younger, we try to define ourselves and make ourselves stand out somewhat from our peers.

When we are older and wiser, and more comfortable with who we are, we don't feel a strong need to define ourselves.
