"Mom, what's a 'phone booth'?"

My 20 year old granddaughter is doing her mom's astrological chart and wants to know if she (mom) was born at 3 am or 3 pm (it's unclear on her mom's birth certificate). So I get an email from daughter about this. I explain:

"Probably 3 pm. I remember our phone was out in our apt. and I went across the street to a phone booth to call the doctor's office at noontime. My water had broken earlier. Doc's office said go to hospital immediately."

So it occurred to me my granddaughter had no idea what a "phone booth" was. I instructed my daughter to please explain that to her...

Yep. The expression "drop a dime" on someone must now be totally uncomprehensible to kids... CTyankee Aug 2019 #2

You never knew when there would be an emergency where superman needed a place to change.

They paid for maintenance by putting phones in them and collecting money from people making calls.

The victory on the war on crime eliminated most super villains and rendered them obsolete. They are experiencing a come back since trump became president.

to do collect calls to any of my friends and family. That was in either 2003 or 2004. The phone booth is gone now. There were some more about six blocks also. About 4 of them. They are gone also. Time is sometimes weird.
