does anyone know if there is some kind of remote wireless bluetooth headset that works with my phone

here is the problem: I spend an hour or so in my cheap Chinese bag-of-water-on-sticks pool every day, but since I finally got forced into having a "smart" phone (fuck you, verizon) I don't want to have it out there. unfortunately I need to be able to answer when people call for various reasons, so being away for that long can sometimes be a problem. (rare but when it happens it can be a real disaster - livestock on highways and such things)

are there headphones that actually ring remotely? or is there some type of device that is either water resistant or cheaply replaceable that would work for this scenario? the phone could be left on a porch within 20 feet or so, maybe even closer if I built a little shaded box for it or something.

would I have to leave it in my ear to hear it ring? Kali Jun 2019 #2
Yes, it would need to stay in your ear. Phoenix61 Jun 2019 #3

I haven't graduated to earplug devices yet. LOL kind of hate them. I was imaging something like a remote handset like an "old fashioned" wireless landline.

Not sure they make what you’re looking for. Depending on the phone, you should be able to Bluetooth is with any Bluetooth speaker. That way you’d hear it ring and could run for it.

Worked for me. My phone also has a waterproof case.

Bought them both on a giant conglomerate shopping site.

I mean, my BT speaker pairs with my phone and I can play podcasts through it but I've never tried the speaker's phone feature, although it has one. It's very possible my smartphone isn't capable. Then again, I have a silly little $15 smartwatch that connects via BT and I'm able to dial out with it, so ---> shruggie emoji

posted this question on a pool forum and got what sounds like the perfect answer. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HRV1KC4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1PG34MMNCGR6R&psc=1

apparently you can connect your cell to these and use the handset by the pool and they are cheap to replace (some sets come with 6 of them!). lots of used ones on ebay too.

I have never used the cell phone connectivity with them, but they work quite well as cordless phones.
