2. Reminds me of my sweet Aussie/B.Collie looking up from my friend's kitchen to see a raised ledge

way up in her vaulted ceiling--with a life-sized jaguar bronze statue. To be honest, I'd not noticed it either, until she looked up and absolutely turned rigid, made herself "big" and sent a growl the way of that cat that would have frozen it in its tracks (had it been a bit more "alive" )...LOL

Yeah, she did calm down, seeing that it never moved, but boy, she was not happy.

6. I had a cat in college named Chan, who rolled onto his back and saw the ceiling fan above him.

I guess he'd never looked up at the ceiling before, and when he saw that fan, he rolled over freakishly fast, yowled and jumped straight up with all four paws flat on the floor with his back raised like those cats in cartoons. He made a beeline out of the den and hid under the bed. That was one of the funniest things I'd seen up to that point in my life.

11. Chan was probably familiar with this video:

(I think it's faked for a commercial, but the Doppler effect on the yowling makes me laugh every time.)

That's what I'd call a feline misadventure.

13. we had a dog who once growled inexplicably

I figured out he was growling at our Japanese beckoning cat statue.

I took it down and let him sniff it

He never growled at it again

3. Poor Kitty!

A couple weeks ago, we brought one of our cats back from the vet wearing the Cone of Shame (to make sure he didn't scratch at an inflamed eye). The other cat backed away and fluffed her tail when she saw how much bigger he was all of a sudden....

5. Reminds me of my mom's cockapoo when an enormous dog came to visit...

The cockapoo was really a rather courageous little guy for someone under 20 pounds, but mom said his reaction was: "If that's a dog, what am I?!"

9. Then there's idiots like my 4 lb. Maltese Yorkie

who would attack a buffalo. She is totally fierce and has no idea how small she is and what that means.

Their mother would have made sliced bulldog out of that little guy. Still, how do they fit such a big heart into such a small dog?

20. When I was living on a farm, my toy poodle was the leader of the pack.

The pack consisted of a Rottweiler, a German shepherd, and about 40 cats and kittens. When he was outside, all I had to do to check on him was to locate the pack. He was a big dog in a little body!

16. Seen something simliar

We were all having a shop party on one of Kodiak's sunny Saturday afternoon. There were probably 20 families there, all with there pets. All of a sudden, we hear a woman screaming and a huge commotion. A bald eagle had swooped down and made off with one of the families pet. Im not quite sure what it was, but it was of the smaller breed. We were always told to not let any of our 4 legged family pets out if they were under 10lbs for this very reason.

21. My dog does that. Oh, she gets really riled up at dogs on TV

And she once barked at a poster of a cat in the vet's office. She was staring at it for a long time and then, finally, decided to bark...just in case it was a real cat.

who kept pointing up at her when she was sitting on the shelf above the TV, looking down at him. You would have thought he was a laser-pointer red dot!

25. When my son was 12, I got him

a wooden cat statue he wanted for Christmas. It was very real-looking. One of our four cats, an extremely intelligent but very territorial tortoiseshell, immediately hated it and would always growl, hiss and bat angrily at it. Sometimes she'd go into his room just to stare and hiss at it. It was always hilarious.

I had a banner of Miguel Cabrera hanging in our picture window after the Detroit Tigers won a pennant. I had to take it down after having the stuffings scared outta me in the middle of the night.
