Gymnasts nowadays would have gotten 10's on every card in the 70's era Olympic games.

I cried the first time I saw it (ex-gymnast here) and laughed and omg, have probably played it 30 times. Welcome home, yui, and enjoy this young lady - she has SUCH a good time doing what she does!

On edit - she makes everyone smile and I don't think she has bones - she has springs!

Her name was Libby but we called her "Puddles" - she had NO BONES, I swear it. Alaskan Eskimo from Nunaviut, schooled in town (no schools "out" then) and she could do some of this stuff. She always credited her people's blanket toss!

Since then, I've never seen her like, until now!

My first though was, upon seeing this: "Let's hope she goes on stage as a dancer some day! She'd really liven up any musical."

I saw it on the news and she told about all her obstacles regarding body shaming for her weight and her many injuries and how she blew them all off. She decided she wanted to have fun for herself alone. That makes her a real winner to me.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/olympics/2019/01/16/ucla-gymnast-katelyn-ohashi-story-behind-her-viral-floor-routine/2586047002/

"No one ever fully knew what I was going through, and I never really could say or publicize what was wrong with me," Ohashi said in a video for The Players' Tribune last August, noting that the pressure — specifically when it came to her body and what she ate — from fans and coaches left her "broken."

I was happy to be injured," she said. "I was told that it was embarrassing how big I'd become. I was compared to a bird that couldn't fly. These are all things that I heard before I even got injured, things that, when I was skinny I was told. So what would they think of me when I had become big? I couldn't accept myself. Gymnastics was my worth, it was my life. I hated myself."

Now gymnastics is just a part of her life."

Not the running, tumbling, jumps, and splits stuff...

I was thinking more like the "sitting in the stands amazed and applauding" part.

I'd heard of this, but hadn't seen her yet. WOW.
(And yes, will be watching over and over, just as I've already done.)
Love her spirit, her skill, and her muscles. She is absolutely fearless, joyous, and beautiful.
Glad you're back, Yuiyoshida! And thank you for this.
