LEAST favorite Christmas song?

As in a Christmas tune you hate?

For me, it's "Away In A Manger."

I know it's a kids' song.
But are our kids really that stupid?

16. "Away In A Manger" is actually a Christian hymn

Its origins are murky but it's generally accepted that it dates from America in the late 1800s.

Nonetheless, it is sung in many Christian denominations by their general congregation. As a some-time church musician, that's been my experience, anyway.

so I've been listening to them for a long time. The older I get, the more I appreciate the synergy and the texture they presented as a band, as I'm not a particularly big fan of any one of them as a solo artist.

91. I'm a late arrival to Beatles fandom.

They were before my time, and I wasn't exposed to them as a young person because my parents forbade rock and roll in the house.

Now that I'm middle-aged, and married to a Beatles fan, I can recognize the incredible entity that they were.
I think they are THE definition of gestalt = together they were something none could achieve on their own.
It's very sad that they broke up, and a tragedy that Lennon was murdered so young when he had so much more to do.

But, we're incredibly lucky that we have the body of work that they did produce.

Paul McCartney on his own is just.....kind of sad. Yes, he did produce some decent work, but none of it is the quality of his work with the Beatles.

I know technically it's not a Christmas song, but the only time they play that abomination is Xmas-time.

Christmas Shoes (on YouTube there's a great animation set to a Patton Oswalt routine walking us through the song).
Anything by Pentatonix but especially, "Hallelujah," which is NOT an Xmas song. Don't put non-Xmas songs on your damn Xmas albums!
Michael Buble's entire oeuvre. You see how he's holding that present in the picture below? He's FARTING ON IT, and that is symbolic of what he does to music.

But a couple Xmases ago, that was THE song to play on all 3 stations that switched to Xmas music. It was like they were all watching me for when I got in my car. "Okay, TlalocW is going out to his car... cue up, 'Santa Baby!'" "Which version?" "Any of the 5 we have is fine! Just cue it up!"

I describe the Madonna version as Madonna imitating Cyndi Lauper diong a Betty Boop impersonation.

In both cases, because I don't want a white snowy Christmas! It's OK in places where it's supposed to be white at that time, but in southern England, it becomes a slippery slushy dangerous mess.

69. For me, a lot of it has to do with version and how often the song is repeated

Three examples" Manheim Steamroller's "Deck the Halls"; Elmo & Patsy's "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"; and Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Carol of the Bells" were all really cool when they first appeared. 10,000 times later, not so much.

Then there are songs that some people love and others just hate: "Dominick the Donkey," "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas," "Christmas in Hollis," and "Mi Burrito Sabanero" are examples of polarizing songs. You love em or hate em.

My least favorites:

Amy Grant's "Grown Up Christmas List" - it tries too hard
Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" - it hardly tries at all
Lou Monte's "Dominick the Donkey" - I'm on the "can't stand it" side of that one.
