1. I'm a simple guy

Bun, burger, cheese, iceberg lettuce, pickles, ketchup, and if I am feeling froggy, some bacon.

Type of cheese doesn't really matter so long as it is properly melted and there's enough of it.

cheddar cheese and topped off w/ thick bacon. Not great for the heart, but sure tastes good!

Shame on you, now I'm hungry!!

Avocado burgers are another fave, with 1/4 lb med burger, poppy seed roll, mayo, swiss cheese or jack, large fresh from the garden tomato, romaine with a side of sweet potato fries. My mouth is watering!

11. I love so many combos

And my favorite place in town here makes some real good adventurous burgers. I have had all these and loved each one. : keep in mind I usually steer clear of mayo when I’m not eating at home too. So this place house made everything makes quite the difference.

The gyro burger w/ tzatziki, onions , Tamato , Cucumber and Feta.

Nebraska Rancher w/ thick cut bacon, cheddar , crispy onion straws , smoky bbq mayo , braised bbq beef ( still w/ reg party )

Argentina w/ Charizo , chimichurri , provolone, bib lettuce , mayo

Au Poivre w/ mushrooms , Swiss , peppercorn cream sauce arugala , mayo

And then there are the one off limited time burgers that are like bi-weekly specials that I can hardly remember ( though they were all good) one notable special was modeled after a muffaleta

And yet after all that crazy wild burger love my favorite is the classic Drive In Style w/ American cheese, shaved onion, bread and butter pickles (also in house hand made ) fry sauce

13. One of the best burgers I ever had

Was in St. Louis at a place called Fitz's, which is a restaurant that has a bottling plant for their soda in it so you can watch the process while you eat. I don't know what natives think of it - good place or touristy place, but I've been a few times when visiting friends or passing through, and a couple years ago, my sister and I were passing through on my bday, and I chose that place, and I had hamburger with pulled pork on top of the patty.

In Kansas City there are a couple of greasy spoons with vastly different burgers - one thick (I normally get the Hawaiian burger from them with a slice of pineapple), and the other thin patties, which makes the edges crinkly and crunchy. I like both quite a bit.

Favorite burger from a chain is the the very pretentious-sounding spinach, cucumber, and goat cheese burger from Smashburger.

But in general, I like everything except mayo as a topper and if available, I'll go "Mexican" - salsa/pico de gallo, guacamole, jalapeños, cheese of some sort. More traditional - pickles onions, tomatoes, lettuce.

.....beef patty, high fat, at least 25%. Lots of real, melted cheddar....NO Velveeta. 2 Bacon slices around the patty. A couple of dill pickle slices, one tomato slice, one red onion slice. No dressing, lettuce wrapped....meaning no bun. And fresh sliced avocado on the side.

Only about 6 net carbs, and the fat will sustain me, and keep away hunger, for hours. Fat is GOOD for you!

Though I do like a whole wheat one if available.

Burger, cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and Gulden's mustard. Side of good fries or onion rings is nice.

Of course, these days that is two days' worth of calories for me so I won't be getting any of that for months!

It had creamed horseradish and bacon.

The restaurant had a back story of being started by Paul Newman in the '80's. Drew a lot of Hollywood types for lunch. At the time, I was working in Hollywood and it was one of my favorite places to go--when we had the chance--out for lunch.

Yum. Yum. Thanks for the memory.

Real beach dive. Sand floors in the dining area.

Cheap bun, greasy grilled meat. Medium.

Lettuce, tomato, pickles and mustard. Ice cold domestic cheap-ass beer.

Ketchup on a burger is only slightly less heretical than on a hot dog!

Of course being on the beach adds 3x flavor!

A good quality kaiser roll and proper seasoning of ground beef, preferably chuck, cooked on a cast iron skillet to an internal temp of 150F. I like to add some Dijon mustard, green leaf lettuce, purple onion, and one or two good quality tomato slices.

41. is that what you are supposed to have on them?

at diners around here they just offer ketchup (more for the fries, I think)

when we make them, they are too messy for sauce already. LOL

strange newish little restaurant in nearby town had "patty melt" on the menu but it said sourdough bread instead of rye. still sounded OK so we ordered. no onions. it was weird, just a burger with cheese on both sides, on sourdough toast. it was OK but not anything I have ever seen called a patty melt - always has onions! fries were pretty good though. they had smoked salt on them and had just a hint of that smokey flavor, nice and crispy.

For some reason, people working at fast food places do not realize that cheese is not required by law on a hamburger. I almost have to yell, “that means NO CHEESE — just bread, meat and ketchup, absolutely nothing else. Thank you so much.”
