"Dave" calls from a number with the same exchange as mine. I have a call blocker, and he uses a different number every time. He calls at least once a day. I have never engaged--it's a recording, so I'd have to stay on the line to talk to a human, I guess--but I can't imagine that this is about carpet cleaning.

(21,714 posts)Friday was a particularly bad "scam" call day, I didn't answer any of them. The "IRS" has been calling me for the last week, 4 calls from different numbers. Apparently I have 4 serious violations against me and the local cops will be here within 24 hours to arrest me. Yes, I know the IRS doesn't call, they would send a letter first. I've gotten a few voicemails that sound like they are Chinese. Don't know what those are about since I don't understand them.

(15,682 posts)Likely Scam, and Unknown (I name my annoying scam callers). I hadn't heard from any of them for a while. They appear to be back.

(4,066 posts)The last time I changed cell carriers I forgot to set up my voicemail. Then, I realized I didn't really need it. All I was getting were the kinds of calls described on this thread. None of my friends or family calls me and leaves voicemail.
If that guy asking for my home or work address so he could bring me important papers in the next 48 hours "or else" hasn't found me yet that's his problem. I had to laugh at that one. It's a lot like the IRS scam - which I also used to get.
