My rollercoaster of home buying continues to be fraught with dips and rises.

I had an offer accepted. Yay! Got to see it for the first time when inspection was done on the house (hubby, did initial tour). I liked it.

Found some issues that needed to be fixed due to the inspection (including one thing that absolutely was non-negotiable because VA isn't going to approve a loan when the furnace won't fire up, although it appears to be a very minor issue that might cost a hundred dollars.)

Day before yesterday, the seller refused to fix the issues (just some other little things other than the major one) and we backed out of the deal.

They came back to the table today and agreed to fix everything on our list that needed to be done and we are back on track again.

I might actually get this one.

It's an interesting home with a lot of updates and while the layout is fairly unique such as the furnace and fan mechanism are in a closet off what would have been the ideal living room (we decided, it becomes a library/sitting room/foyer and since we have no need for a formal dining room, the dining room becomes the tv room), 3 bedrooms each with their own bathroom, it is two 2 stories, so I have a guest room and computer room upstairs and use the main floor bedroom since there is an door leading to bathroom from the both the bedroom and hallway off the erstwhile sitting room. Off street parking...no garage. In my preferred neighborhood.

It's a little bit more house than I really needed and the yard is somewhat small, but at least I won't be mowing a lot of grass. I didn't really care for the idea of two stories, but I can live with that.

I was really sad about the deal looking like it would fall through yesterday (I had already started falling in love with the property), but I am back to riding the top of the hill today.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

2. Good luck

My wife has been trying to convince me to put our house up for sale because its value has risen considerably since we bought it. But my concern is finding another house. It's very much a sellers market right now. A lot of homes around me barely last a week on the market it seems.

4. The trick will probably not be selling. It will be finding another place to live.

Depending on the market, someone will be ready to snap up your house while you still are trying to find the right house and if inventory is low in the price range you are looking at, then it gets fun.

In our case, the price range we are looking at for buying is practically a barren wasteland in the middle of "Craphole in bad neighborhood", "way too many compromises off the must-have list" and "Nice house, but way over budget."
