2. Crazy, huh!

I was carded in a restaurant for a glass of wine when I was 30. Then, one day, I got my AARP card in the mail..... Where did the time go, ....?

3. 20 years ago I was carded.

I told the clerk Thank You, that is the nicest thing anyone has said to me in a long time.

Now they just see the gray hair and wrinkles and scan the wine.

14. I was carded when I was 40

and I said basically what you said to the clerk and gave him a big friendly smile.

He glared at me and said "look, you want this beer? I ain't got time to mess around."

6. It's difficult to deal with when that happens

I suspect the ticket seller was either young and not a good judge of age, OR was just giving you a $ break. Another possibility is they just made a mistake and hit the wrong key or something.

The first time anyone asked me if I wanted the senior discount was at Kohl's. I wasn't quite the age necessary to qualify for the discount. I can't remember if I actually cried when I left, but I sure did feel like it.

My husband claims we both look younger than we are. I don't know about that. Whatever the case, I take whatever discounts are offered now. A buck's a buck, right?

Anyway, choose one of the scenarios I mentioned, and try to keep your spirits up.

7. My wife was carded into her 30's. She's younger than me, but she looked young for her age; I old.

I used to get a lot of dirty looks for being cradle robber, but it wasn't actually as bad as people thought.

She used to complain about being carded, especially because her sister, ten years younger than she is, never got carded.

She'd be thrilled to be carded today, trust me on this.

As for the Senior benefits, growing old is a privilege, and the alternative to it is dying young.

9. Oh, heck.

I once was given a senior discount on a coffee at McDonald's. I was 43 at the time. The young lady waiting on me was probably 16, and so to her I looked OLD! I thought it was hilarious, and put the extra money in the Ronald McDonald donation box.

and a lot of people address me as "sir". My wife wants to know when I became respectable.

18. Not About Being Carded.....

.....Although I have had that happen when I was too young to qualify. The other day my 41 year old son and I went out to eat breakfast. I'm nearly 70, next month. He's a postman, and ran into one of the people on his route. This guy points to me and asks my son, "is this your wife?" I was walking on air for 3 days!
