This might be morbid or some other word. I would like to ask What venue will be the site for the next tragedy of gun violence in our country? With all of the inaction and the nonsense from the NRA/Right Wing crowd, and the warped logic they use to blame Democrats for all of this I just want to know. I can see something is coming up and it is going to be as terrible and tragic as what we have already seen.

A family friendly environment. Carnival atmosphere. The last thing I, or any kid would expect is to see some nut with a gun walking around picking people off. The Vegas jerk git 58 victims, here I guess about the same number.

(28,505 posts)The tough part is that most venues make people file through a turnstile and/or metal detector... and bags are searched.
However, some enterprising mass murderer will figure out how to sneak weapons into the venue before the event and retrieve them in a manner that allows them to target 100s of stampeding fans.
The Vegas shooting shows how such a venue can ratchet up the body count... with the venue being on the ground, open air, and clearly visible from high rise hotels nearby - it didn't present the problems that a walled stadium would present.
But these guys (and it is almost always guys) want to make a statement and be remembered. Worst in history... at least until the next one.

(1,068 posts)The number of places where some mass murderer can sneak a weapon in and use it to victimize a group of people is what keeps law enforcement personnel awake at night. And the rest of us at some point un time. I keep saying to myself that this 2018. We are supposed to be smarter than this. We can not let ourselves be victimized like this. How sad is it that this is where we are today, with leadership in Washington, the State governments that will do a lot of talking without getting anything done.

why the hell can't one of these "going out in a blaze of glory" mass shooting assholes light up a gun show? It might be interesting to see the NRA's reaction if someone who was their idea of the Perfect American - white, straight, male, Republican, Evangelical Christian, anti-abortion, pickup owner, blue-collar worker with a country-star-looking wife and two beautiful children who aren't allowed to play video games, homeowner, etc., etc., etc. - just walked into a fairground building that's full of guns, ammunition, and heavily armed men and started blowing people away until someone there remembered to get out from under the table and shoot this guy. I figure he'd get between 20 and 30 attendees.

(1,068 posts)Your idea for a "next time" does not sound sacrilegious or terrible. At least not to me. The NRA/Right Wing need to "suffer" a "hard truth". By having some nut with a gun walking around one of their gun shows picking people off would be a reality check for them. Our words to them fall on deaf ears, lead bullets would help us out a great deal.
