or are you an either/or person, or a "both" person?
I'm all about the savory, especially hash.
I've made all kinds of homemade hash. Love it with an egg on top.
I don't mind a couple of orange wedges or a few strawberries on my plate... but bring on the meat, potatoes and eggs!

(11,834 posts)Instead of preparing the oats with water or milk, I prepare it with ginger miso broth and add chopped fresh tomatoes or beets. When it is ready and piping hot I chop in a soft boiled egg and add a little pepper. DELISH!

(11,834 posts)Here's one- take the prepared oatmeal, chop in the soft boiled egg and then put the mixture into a ramekin or shallow oven friendly bowl then top it with a round sausage patty (browned) and bake for about ten minutes at 350o. The oatmeal takes the egg and becomes like a pudding. FAB!
You can put anything on top really, meat, avocado, cheese. I am addicted to this oatmeal recipe. it is a real protein energy bomb in the morning.
My Grandmother was a great cook and she used to say eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a vassal, and dinner like a peasant.

I had chili spaghetti.
I don't classify foods as breakfast or dinner foods.

(9,257 posts)Like pancakes and bacon. Or eggs and home fries with toast and jam.
Most days breakfast is coffee and a granola bar (sigh).

(26,251 posts)For years my breakfast, eaten in the privacy of my work cubicle, was a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. For several months after I retired, I stayed in that rut. Then it suddenly occurred to me that, damn, life is short but there's still time for some variety.

(6,078 posts)Sometimes I have one, but usually I eat leftover dinner for breakfast.

(12,132 posts)But we often go out for it on weekends. My only real requirement is that they have corned beef hash. As long as I have that I can eat omelettes, pancakes, waffles, french toast, huevos rancheros, scrambled eggs, fried eggs (I prefer over medium but I've found very few places that can consistently do it. Always seems to be some runny egg white and I don't dig that. Whites done, yellow runny. Is that so hard?) or any combination of all.
I tend to savory more than sweet though because I'm not really supposed to be eating sugar much. Sugar is harder to quit than smoking was though.

(16,330 posts)I can't do sweet for breakfast unless I'm out and desperate (meaning I will eat a donut if it's all someone has). At home, I prefer leftovers or eggs with veggies.

(7,808 posts)My favorite is eggs over easy with toast, bacon, and hash browns.
A Denver omelet with extra ooey gooey cheese is good, too.
