(7,396 posts)I had mostly been drowning some shrimp on popping corks and nearby there was a guy scraping barnacles off a piling to use as sheepshead bait. He was working his arse off and it was hot out. I popped a cold one and he offered a reefer for a beer. I had not actually smoked any in a year or two, so it knocked my socks off. After that I always had jobs where random drug testing was a remote possibility, so that was the last time. I don't remember if I caught anything or not....

(16,104 posts)The same day two stents were required to keep me alive!
Since nicotine constricts blood vessels as much as 20%, the medical professionals pointed out the very next cigarette could kill me.
Put THAT on the box!

(12,840 posts)I was on long layoff like 4 months in union trucking dam regan and his D.O.T. drug tests. It was the w Bush depression and the company out blue gave me a callback sooner that thought. So collecting unemployment I played the union rules in which I had 21 days to respond. Some guys went back ASAP I waited till 21 st day called in and when you respond you then have 7 days to make bid. So I told em Ill be in on bid if I remember it was 2300 starts. So I had 29 days to clean out in case of random drug test. I never caught a random that time , Then the Fuckers worked us three weeks and laid us off again for like two months.

(12,132 posts)I don't consider myself an ex-toker. Because if recreational becomes legal where I am I will be in line at the store day 1.
If I retire and don't have to take immoral pee tests any more I might start before it becomes legal.
or even sooner than that if I finally decide I no longer give a fuck.

(7,396 posts)I am not positive, but I think the drug testing started out as a federal thing and had something to do with the transportation industry. All of a sudden everybody got in the game. We now have many places where basic jobs, such as cooks, housekeepers, etc are subject to drug testing. I have worked places with chronic labor shortages for exactly that reason. Then they complain they can't find good help. Well, hell, I understand why we don't want someone being high while driving a semi, but I don't care if they flip my waffle while listening to Marley.

(2,050 posts)I was in the business of recieving storing and dispensing fuel, my testing started in 1990.
Coincidence due to OPA 90 being instituted at the same time, the Oil and Petroleum Act of 1990, put teeth in pollution laws.
