Green haired, genital breathing turtle on endangered list -

[IMG][/IMG]

It sports a green mohican, fleshy finger-like growths under its chin and can breathe through its genitals.

The Mary river turtle is one of the most striking creatures on the planet, and it is also one of the most endangered.

The 40cm long turtle, which is only found on the Mary river in Queensland, features in a new list of the most vulnerable reptile species compiled by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL).

A turtle with green hair and drawing breath thru its sex organs SHOULD be on the endangered list

6. Ummm ... genitals ? The cloaca is the combined outlet of the genital and digestive tracts.

Feces, urine, future generations all flow through the same opening. At least as accurate to say it breathes through its anus (sound familiar ?).

The ability to "breathe" through the cloaca is shared by many turtles who spend winter underwater -- even under ice, buried in the mud.

BTW, a "Mohawk" is not a "Mohican".

7. Thanks for standing up for this turtle!

I'm tired of all the hippie-bashing going on! This is obviously a radical turtle.

8. WRT "Mohican"

From https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/Mohican

...
NOUN
British
A hairstyle with the head shaved except for a strip of hair from the middle of the forehead to the back of the neck, typically stiffened to stand erect or in spikes.

‘I was a nihilistic punk with a Mohican and a ring in my nose’
as modifier ‘a Mohican haircut’
...

More at link.

The Guardian is a UK paper.

9. Well no, eppur, a cloaca isn't an anus. It is a cloaca, which combines the functions of anus,

penis/urethra, and genitalia. Since most people are unfamiliar with the term, and it makes a good headline, I can see why they used the word "genitalia." The joke would have been lost if there had been a pedantic explanation of what a cloaca is.
