Alice Cooper should retire...

I just watched his version of Herod from last night's "Jesus Christ Superstar" on YouTube.

He was terrible.

Old and washed up.

Besides, Herod himself was a fairly young guy! (He was Herod the Second, BTW)

3. I had no expectations and I thought he was good, once he warmed up

The beginning of his performance seemed a bit rough but once he got going, I thought he did just fine. It was a lovely bit of camp, which is what that particular role calls for, IMHO.

I a perfect world, David Bowie would have made a great Pontius Pilate, although I thought Ben Daniels was wonderful.

All in all, I did really enjoy the show, last night, although I didn't tune in until about 45 minutes in. I'll have to see if it is on 'On Demand'.

I had seen the stage play, years ago. Carl Anderson was Judas. I absolutely loved it.

I'll have to keep an eye out and catch it if it airs.

6. I thought he was *just* unhinged enough to make it really work.

I was very surprised by the entire show; my expectations were much lower, and there were several performances that knocked it out of the park. Initially I thought, 'Alice Cooper? Really???', but when we saw how he played it, we realized that it was perfect for that role.

(For the most part, I liked John Legend in the lead, though at times it seemed his voice was underpowered, and his expressions didn't match the intensity of some scenes.)
