a most unusual scam! I just received a cellphone call from...MYSELF!

Talk about confusing - we have no land lines, and do not answer our cell phones unless we know who is calling (IDs by a name associated with a number).

Well a few hours ago my phone rang and I entered the twilight zone - the name and number was ME!

Curiosity got the best of me - it was a robo call, scratchy male voice "ATT has blocked your account"... - then I hung up. We don't use or have ever used ATT.

Did some research - turns out this is something that now can be done by spammers and scammers - use your own number to call you.

Web searches indicated there is no need for me to change my number, no info was obtained (unless my phone was hacked of course).

Just beware - you may think you are calling yourself - but it is NOT you!

it could be an urgent warning from your future self. This scenario has been the subject of so much sci-fi that the smart money's on 'take the call!'

Odds are, your future self created a paradox introducing a time line split, which requires them to kill this version of yourself to resolve.

If I meet my future self, I'm not going to give that MFer a split second to get the drop on me, I'm taking him out. If you see him, don't tell him that, since I want to be able to ambush him.

Me.

Since the chances of me calling myself on the same number are about as good as tRump resigning and apologizing to the world, I blocked my own number several years ago.

(They also use numbers close to yours, to make you think it may be a friend or neighbor calling.)

And it wasn't me trying to locate my cell. Once I got a local call from someone who had been called from my "number" so I explained what the spammers were doing. We had a nice conversation, they hear my beagle in the back ground and it turns out that they conduct Beagle Skills events. I'm sure my baby could do that if no guns were involved, but I'm not sure I'm up for the training and going to all the away "games. " Grammy is a bit too old for that.

The phone rings, it is my company on my caller ID. I quickly answer to find out that I am seriously delinquent on my credit card. Oh my God!!!! wait I dont have a credit card. They are sneaky. But I believe there is a app. for that.
