My DR. has ordered an endoscopy, I'm nervous AF
I had the nose tube at the ER last week and it was pretty awful. Any thoughts....

5. Always better to have more fear for the problem than for the procedure.

9. Propofol is a wonderful drug!
Mine went down my throat and then the colonoscopy, not my throat lol. Awake, asleep, awake and home. Easy peasy.
I cannot believe anyone would do this without putting you into a light sleep. Are we really so afraid that we are going that way now? I hope you have no memory except the guy who says, "Goodnight" and, "Hey, you are awake!" you can go home in about 10 minutes. |

11. Don't worry, it'll be fine.
I had one due to swallowing difficulties and feelings of heartburn. They gave me conscious sedation via IV and I don't remember a thing. First they sprayed some lidocaine or something like that down my throat and that's the last thing I remember. They didn't find a thing, yet the procedure itself was therapeutic and I haven't had any symptoms since. The doc told me that very often the dilation during the procedure is all you need. He was right. I walked out thirty minutes later.
Relax. |

12. It's nothing.
You have an IV and get put out before they ever run anything down your throat. No after affects other than being groggy from the meds. I have one every three years.
